For me it is not really sudden or idiosyncratic. I am not sure if this was the intention of the man, and he is aware of the popular pseudo psychology, but particularly since the the late 2010s and early 2020s there was and still is the habit of declaring a woman under the age of 25 as a child since her brain would not be developed enough.
Ironically, and even I was surprised, this arguement has apparently been used as early as 2011. A “female” commentator made such a comment on AF’s old blog posts.
So, maybe it was his intention to make the cut-off age in the mid-twenties to make fun of this very popular notion that 25-year-old women are still children.

In this version, the proposed ages start at 15 as with the other one, but he reaches for a gun until 18, when it becomes a swung fist until 22. Then it’s approval until 40 when it’s increasing levels of disapproval.

I ate out today at a restaurant in a shopping center. I sat down opposite a very pretty girl who looked 16 – 18 and had finished eating and had her head in a book. There was a seat at the table next to her free, and I immediately kicked myself for not choosing that one.
Anyway, the book she was reading was 1984, and she was writing notes in it as she read, so obviously studying it for class. That’s my favorite book, which I re-read every year. And of course, contains the taboo love affair between Winston and a much younger woman.
I no longer have the balls to approach pretty girls that age. And I guess it gets to a certain point when you’re so old and ugly it does become something like harassment to try to, unless they do show some visible interest first.
