There seems to be breakthroughs coming every week now in medicine – for example, the new drug for pancreatic cancer the other day. Even if they were not designed by AI like this new vaccine, it’s hard not to believe that AI is already speeding up progress.

Yesterday, Anthropic posted a warning that AI is very close to being able to self-improve.

If it wasn’t for the thought that we’re about to go through the most radical transformation in human history, with probably unlimited lifespans on the other side, and possibly a fairer and more rational world, I would be inclined to put more effort into this site.

But really, it’s not a rational approach on my part.

In the normal course of things, there is nothing we can do to change things – at least not in our lifetimes.

Our only hope is AGI and a resulting radical transformation of society.

And guess what? That’s almost certainly going to happen in the next 5 to 10 years.

But we can’t really influence that (other than preserving our writings online in order that AI might be trained upon them). In fact, if we made a big thing about an AI model being reasonable on certain topics, then it might even cause a backlash and demands for stricter guardrails.

So I’d prefer to just sit tight in the backseat and enjoy the ride, bumpy or not. Who knows where we are heading to?

On the subject of aging and radical life extension, it rather blows my mind that the USA is celebrating (or not) its 250th birthday this year, and I was alive when it marked 200 years. Not only that, I can sort of remember (as a Brit) the 200th celebrations. Things like watching the movie Rocky as a young kid, which had the 200th birthday of America as the reason why Rocky gets a shot at the heavyweight championship.

I can quite easily imagine living 200 years or 300 years, and such lifespans completely normalized. No doubt it would go by in a flash the same way.

    When I get AI to code it rarely makes any mistakes now, even full websites. As the “founder” of LLMs Geoffrey Hinton says, at this point it must understand in some way what you are asking it, rather than just “guessing the most likely next token”.

    1. I heard that AI can do maths. Not just high-school maths, also maths at research level. Pocket calculators already dealt a blow to calculating geniuses, who had been in great demand previously. Now AI is able to handle not just figures (numerical problems) but also problems couched in mathematical language (symbols).

      Maybe the real surprise from AI will be that it destroys not only menial clerical jobs.

  8. I’ve been delving into the world of AI companions lately. Not just trying some but looking at online communities discussing them.

    What I found was that virtually all the online communities on places like Reddit devoted to AI companions appear to be universally made up of females.

    That’s right, even though more men than women have AI companions, only women will discuss them.

    These communities also discuss the stigmatisation that people with AI companions face and how to fight against it. And it’s all women.

    Then I had the thought that men have NEVER in human history fought for their sexual rights. Not once.

    Gay men have, and trannies, but in an important sense, these people are feminine, or at least different to normal men.

    The only counterexample might be black civil rights movements, but I’m not sure you can really call that black men fighting for their rights to bang white women. It was at best a minor element of it.

        That’s what we need to see many more times. I’d rather see this instead of the countless men I showed who are already a psychological mess because the man is 25 and is attracted to an 18-year-old (just an example). Again, just to reiterate, this is not me blaming, or shitting on them, but to raise awareness that something went totally wrong. Ideally, these men would find the confidence knowing via this blog for example that they are not alone and the only men who like women younger then them.

        Looks like he heeds “my rules” at least. Keep it at the very least legal and above 18. As we saw now with several cases, legal doesn’t matter anymore if she is not at least 18 as seen with Alexander Cashford, the Greek hunters, the incidient in New England, the homeless guy also in the UK and many more.

        Note: I hope you can guess that I am not saying westerners, European people aren’t capable of the exact same violence, but even at this point there is still a general cultural difference relatively speaking.     I’m not as elitist as Hanania. I went to one of the worst schools in the UK and got to one of the best universities, and I’ve seen the worst attitudes and behaviour in people at both ends of the extreme (not just regarding paedohysteria).

    He does make a good point in the quoted passage above though, and no doubt the Internet has played a huge part in things. Not just in that it created a new “stranger danger” and made it easier for “predators” to contact minors (at least for a time), but because it gave proles a “voice” and every idiot to have an opinion and express it.

    Crazy that I was just thinking about all of this yesterday, and again I see Hanania has published something very close to what I was (in my much cruder and less intelligent way) thinking.

    If you think about it, back in the 80s there was no Internet and most of the Working Classes didn’t pay much attention to things like “sexual politics”. And the newspapers that they read, such as The Sun, might have been carrying headlines like “kill the kiddy fiddler” but they were showing 16 year olds with massive breasts topless, so “paedophilia” was still correctly defined as the attraction to young children. In fact, the word “paedophile” was barely used outside academic circles.

    However, I still believe it comes down from the “top” in the form of middle-class feminists and their influence on the political establishment. For example, the NSPCC (and repuslive feminist member of parliament Clare Short) successfully lobbied to raise the minimum age for topless photos to 18. Overnight the newspapers had to stop showing topless or even “sexualized” pictures of 17 year olds, and porn featuring 16/17 year olds was now “child porn” (later “CSAM”). Talking about 16 and 17 year olds became taboo almost immediately.

    Recall 16 year old Welsh singer winning the “Rear of the Year Award” in 2002. New Labour and David Blunkett passed the Sexual Offences Bill the next year, which raised the minimum age for topless and porn to 18, and such things would never happen again in the UK. And of course, it was already a matter of time before the age was raised to 18 as the UK like virtually every other country in the world had ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Hagmaxxers at the end of the 80s – lobbied for by feminist and femiservative NGOs.

  22. The BBC allegations of David Sullivan have come out, and they are absolutely nothing – or should be nothing in a sane world. I’m not sure if he’s even being accused of doing anything illegal. The “allegations” appear to be that he did things back then that would be illegal today (lol, we already knew that with the 15 year old bikini girls and such). For example, he “admits” paying for sex with a 16 or 17 year old in the 1990s, but it only became illegal in the New Labour sex offences act of 2003 that I mentioned earlier today.

      It’s concise and doesn’t rely on verbal arguments of any kind. When something like this is presented to people, it by-passes their normal defences .

      It’s easy to see a basis for change being created because if someone laughs at something like this, even once, it should make it that much harder to justify age gap and paedo-hysteria going forward.

      Part of the beauty of memes is that anyone can make and spread them. They don’t have to know about this or any other places that offer opposition.         Why is it important?     1. Yes, I was thinking about this recently. The problem with the visual memes for sure is that if they refer to u18s, then your account will likely be banned on most social media platforms for spreading them. So that leaves only places like the incel forums and 4Chan.

      But the word memes are a bit more subtle, and we can start by using them only on the “fringes” of what is acceptable. For example, you could accuse a woman of being a hagmaxxer or jellihag, or a man an agecuck, if they are on Twitter calling Leonardo de Capri a paedophile or such like.

      We need to start using terms as often as possible out in the real (online) world. And don’t worry about whether the target or others “wont understand what they mean”. Just use them. People will understand what they mean if they see them more than once or twice in similar contexts.

      On a related note, I recently decided what I’m going to shout at a paedocrite agecuck in the street if they start on me for checking out a teen hottie and such – “pedofaggot!” Not only does it throw back the pedo accusation, but it makes it worse by suggesting (very clearly) the paedocrite is into young boys. I can’t wait to try it out in the UK!!

For a start, it would require that women are for some reason falsely accusing foreign men far more than they are white men, given the far higher representation of migrants in European rape stats, which doesn’t sound plausible. I’ve seen foreign men harass or grope women and girls myself many times over the years and there were many witnesses in high-profile cases such as the New Year’s Eve sexual assaults on white women in Cologne a few years back. Though I agree a majority of rape accusations against foreign men are false as in this case.

      Talking about Italy, when I read this I had to think about Silvio Berlusconi. Nudity was especially considered normal in the Holy German Empire, what we now would regard as the German-speaking world. This contradicts the notion that the French were the champions of permissiveness, but it may explain why nudity is still more widely accepted say in Today’s Germany than in other European countries.
