Benny Hill nails it in every possible way in this ‘wife swapping’ sketch from 1969.
I wonder what one of Eivind’s ephebophile readers would make of the above? What goes through their autistic minds when watching it?
‘I don’t understand. So Benny Hill was an ephebophile. But he was a misogynist too so we shouldn’t like him. Doesn’t the antifeminist know that it was professor Bum Quack in 1749 who invented the term paedophile – a man? Paedocrite is a terrible, terrible term. It makes people feel bad. A better term would be pedo nazi.’
No of course Benny Hill was not an ‘ephebophile’, much less a ‘paedophile’. Neither were the studio audience who laughed their heads off understanding the joke, as well as the millions laughing at home. That every middle-aged man would love to trade in his wizened hag of a wife with a nubile 17 year old girl.
Fast forward 50 years to our present dystopia, and ‘paedophile’ Prince Andrew is facing demands to be extradited to the US of A to face questioning over his links with ‘dead paedophile’ Jeffrey Epstein and his 17 year old lover. And the BBC makes documentaries ‘exposing paedophile puas’ who shockingly talk to 17 year old girls in the street, never mind travel the world with one as was every man’s dream back in Benny Hill’s day.
There’s an excellent commentator at Eivind Berge’s blog by the name of Milan Horvarth. He thinks I’m referring to him when I call out left-wing ‘ephebophile activists’ who are obsessed with American Conservatism as the cause of anti-male sexuality while discounting almost entirely the role of feminists.
No I’m not referring to him, although he does share something of their fixation with American puritanism. No doubt that is a big factor in the transformation of European attitudes towards teenage sexuality over the last decades, but what he and others seemingly refuse to acknowledge is that American puritanism has always been feminist led. The Social Purity Movement in both the USA and the UK, which is 99% responsible for our present ages of consent, was completely female driven. Every feminist history I know of, acknowledges that the Social Purity Movement of the late 19th century was the proto-feminist movement. Many of their leaders were also leaders of the suffragette movements – such as the Pankhursts in the UK. The very first ‘men’s rights activist’ – Ernest Belfort Bax – writing in the Victorian and Edwardian periods, mocked the early feminists/suffragettes for being obsessed with raising the age of consent to 18 or even 21.
At the turn of the century in the USA, you could have sex with 13 year old prostitutes in any number of local whorehouses (as documented in the movie ‘Pretty Baby’). It was the American Social Purity Movement/proto feminist movement, learning from their British cousins, who put a stop to that, and created an America in which even 17 year olds were off limits for any kind of sexual relationship (but still, until very recently, even in the USA acknowledged as prime ‘jail bait’).
But enough of these Groundhog Day type ramblings. Milan Horvarth does have a point, and he made a brilliant suggestion that I create some kind of resource to highlight how attitudes have changed since the 60’s and 70’s in Europe. I already did try that a little at : https://www.dailymotion.com/afvids a few years back. The ‘Carry On Christmas 1973 Special‘ in particular is eyebrow raising. Now viewed over 3 and 1/2 thousand times.
I did capture and split the above Benny Hill scene from YouTube, but unfortunately am having trouble uploading it at Daily Motion.
An activism tip – spread these videos freely. But it might be better not so directly. For example, on a Twitter account, share a ‘times have changed’ video not with the message – ‘hey guys, how can you claim it’s unnatural for men to find teens attractive when you look at what was considered normal back in the 70’s’. No, maybe better would be something like – ‘this is sickest thing I’ve seen for a while. Barbara Windsor sitting on the lap of leery Sid James pretending to be a 13 year old schoolgirl, and the audience finding it hilarious on Christmas Day. It’s shocking to think every man was a paedophile back then’.
At the very least it will highlight how stupid it is to judge old men today for their alleged ‘historical sex crimes’ involving consenting teens way back in decades prior. And it might just make some bright individuals think – ‘hey – we’re being lied to here. It’s not that some men are sick for finding teens attractive. It’s that our present society is sick for thinking that what has always been completely normal is perverted.’
