As far as the “barely legal” aspect of the proposed UK legislation, I was unsure of exactly what this meant. It wasn’t explained in any of the links-there was no reference to actually raising the age for “actors” in porn. Perhaps in the case of this proposed law it means something different. Perhaps it means that the fact that a performer is barely legal (say 18-19) will no longer be allowed to be advertised or mentioned explicitly.
Could it be sloppy reporting, or could it be deliberately ambiguous so as to avoid a possible backlash? I don’t know. The US story suggests the latter.

These new laws will likely lead to far more men looking at real child porn as avoiding “stepfamily” scenes or “barely legal” videos when browsing porn sites is near impossible. If that was completely unrealistic I doubt if it would have been tolerable to audiences. My family had always been “jealous” of any success I had, sexual or otherwise, despite my having a miserable upbringing compared to them.

Why am I trying to compare these two unrelated stories? Modern, western societies are so brainwashed into thinking that once an “older” man is involved he is to blame for everything, even if there is nothing to put a blame on him at all.

I watched “The Innocents” (1961) tonight. I’m too tired to give a proper analysis, but it strikes me how easily it could be interpreted as a sexually repressed or jealous middle-aged woman (a governess looking after a young boy and his sister) trying to force “sexual innocence” upon them, resulting in the girl going crazy and the boy dying. It was also set in the Victorian Era or the early-to-mid 19th Century. Near the film’s climax, the boy (who attempted to passionately kiss the governess in one scene), calls her an ugly hag.
It’s based on “The Turn of the Screw” by Henry James, which was a farily explicit pro-feminist work at the end of the 19th century, representing the Governess as a strong woman taking over the running of things. I haven’t checked yet, but I think in that novella, the “apparitions” she sees are real, rather than figments of her imagination as portrayed in the movie. Truman Capote wrote the screenplay, and evidently decided to take a different path with the story. Perhaps having a dig at prudish older women creating sexual repression in society (Capote was gay after all, when gays were still forced in the closets and many still blamed women for it). I think the governess was supposed to be young in Henry Jame’s story, but the director and Capote chose 40 year old Deborah Kerr to play her.

However, if I was somehow transported back in time and given the role of chief of the British Army, or the French Army, or the German Army, it wouldn’t mean eff all. If I was the greatest expert in the world on the origins of the first world war, it would be largely meaningless in deciding how best to fight the enemy.
