If you thought that this site coming back was good news, and Jack coming back to comment on it was even better, well I’ve got some news that tops it all – our old friend Scarecrow is still alive! ‘Scarecrow’ was the persona behind the men’s rights blog Men-Factor at blogspot.com. For a long time he had been one of the few fellow MRA bloggers who had agreed with our stance on the criminalization of male sexuality, and often left comments here and on Eivind’s site. Some time before I stopped blogging several years ago, he himself had already done so, but in his case there was no explanation or warning, and he also stopped leaving comments here and apparently anywhere else. I do remember that in his last posts he had mentioned a trip to the hospital and health concerns. Given that speaking out on the criminalization of male sexuality by feminists is a stressful occupation that appears to take its toll on one’s health, and even leads to a relatively early death (Angry Harry, Barbara Hewson and others), we all feared the worst for Scarecrow.
I happened to check Scarecrow’s blog the other day and to my dismay found that it had been removed alltogether. I did find it odd though. Why would it be removed if Scarecrow had died and hadn’t updated it for years? I wasn’t aware that Blogger had a policy of deleting inactive blogs. So I did some searching online a bit and discovered that Scarecrow (presumably) had appealed to Google (who own Blogger/Blogspot) as recently as February of last year (2024) to restore his blog, which has/had apparently been taken down after after a complaint regarding ‘hate speech’.
On the official Google community support page, a blogger who is apparently Scarecrow asks for help regarding his taken down blog:
My blog was reported as hate speech. When I click on the link in the email to dispute the claim, I am directed to a page claiming my blog is a spam blog. I prove that I am human, and after a week or two, I get another identical email.
There is no explanation of which post exactly violated the hate speech laws. My blog has been around since I’d guess maybe 2010. Nothing in it encourages violence of any kind, nor does it dehumanize anybody.
I suspect this was an error, or childish behavior from a newer commenter who kept posting links to pornography on my blog.
Another user replies and tells him that it was likely flagged for hate sppech:
User, thanks.
My best guess is that Google thinks the content of your blog (not just comments) violates their policies. So likely not due to links (though could be), or to a technical error.
In such cases, the decision of Google is final, even if, arguendo,
the content does not violate policies
the policies are not wise
I will not waste your time giving you suggestions that probably won’t work.I see that you are planning to start a new WordPress blog that will not be subject to Google’s policies. If you plan to continue to post this content, that may be wise.
To which Scarecrow responds by copying and pasting the email he received from Blogger:
Here is the text from thr email:
Hello, As you may know, our Community Guidelines (https://blogger.com/go/contentpolicy) describe the boundaries for what we allow– and don’t allow– on Blogger. Your blog titled “http://men-factor.blogspot.com/” was flagged to us for review. We have determined that it violates our guidelines and have made the URL http://men-factor.blogspot.com/ unavailable to blog readers. Why was your blog removed? Your content has violated our HATE policy. Please visit our Community Guidelines page linked in this email to learn more. If we feel that a blog’s content does not fit within the expectations of our Policy, we no longer allow it to be publicly available. If you think we’ve made a mistake, you can request a review at https://www.blogger.com/unlock-blog.g?lockedBlogID=7588715374482644606, and we’ll take another look. Sincerely, -The Blogger TeamAlso, I have NO access to that blog’s control panel, which means if the problem is with a comment, I have no way to remove it. When I go to the control panel, it says the blog has been locked.
So, whilst it is sad news that Scarecrow’s blog has been taken down and his appeals to have it restored have been unsuccessful, it’s wonderful to learn that he appears to be still with us. It’s still a mystery why he stopped blogging. Perhaps his Blogger account was ‘frozen’ for some time before it was suspended, but that wouldn’t explain why he stopped commenting here and elsewhere. Hopefully he will drop by here again one day and clear it all up for us!
*I just took a look at Rookh’s Anglo-Bitch blog for the first time in a long while, and it appears he has fallen victim to the same obscene troll that Scarecrow was referring to in his appeal to Google Support. Rookh’s last article was January 2024, and the comments section is full of pornographic messages and links, many of which mention Scarecrow and his blog.
