It’s a pleasure to read this. Absolutely agree. It should work like this in civilised society, regardless of offence (whether sex is involved or not). There should be conditions in prison system to prevent such attacks and there should be personal responsibility of prison management if something like that would happen.

I don’t know which country you are from, but let me give some examples.
I, as German-native speaker, did not know what the German word for “age of consent” was since it was never in my active vocabulary. When I was learning English, and started to consume Anglo media, I was like, “Wait, I hear these words so often, and I know what it means, but what is the exact German word for it? So I learned in “reverse” that age of consent means “Schutzalter.”
When I was growing up, I can’t recall once that anyone I interacted with was like, “Ist sie über dem Schutzalter?”, or in English, “Is she above the age of consent?” While I personally never witnessed such cases AF described (him being middle-aged, and the young women in their underage teens), 14-17-year-olds being with young men between late teens and early-mid 20s definitely happened. Not necessarily the majority, but they were there. And no there was no police and decades of prison involved.
Was it always applauded or seen as great? Not always, even back then. Even then you already had critical voices, but it never reached the hysteria of Anglo-Saxon countries.
It was basically understood from the get go to not have sex with actual children like an 8-year-old for example. You didn’t need to read some law to be sure, and back then at least people knew that 16-year-olds are not the same as 8-year-olds.

I was looking at some amateur predator hunter videos from Germany. When I say amateur, I mean Youtubers that usually do other stuff, but jumped on the bandwagon to get clicks. In addition, they don’t go out to meet the “predators.”
This time I refrain from posting any links. In this case it wouldn’t make sense since I watched many, and there isn’t a certain clip I want to show, in addition they would be in German, only few of you would understand anyway. But I want to tell you what I’ve seen.
German age of consent is 14, given some caveats. You can’t pay her, you can’t be in a position of authority etc.
This is something many of these “amateur predator hunters” don’t know. They pretended to be 14 and 15 years old. These German Youtubers were calling all of them pedophiles. Keep in mind what actual pedophiles are, and what the German age of consent is. All their headlines and thumbnails were like “Pedo this…Pedo that” in these cases in German obviously.
Given the time we are living, they recieved a lot of likes and support in the comments. At the same time, I was pleased to see some critical comments that even could be found here. However, these were few and far between.
That was not all. In one instance one of these people pretended to be a 21-year-old GIRL. Im putting “girl” in caps on purposes here. He pretended to be a “Mädchen” which is German for girl and not woman. There is only one reason why he titled it like that, to make it more “horrible” to gain more outrage. I assume in this sphere we all know that a grown-ass woman of 21 is no longer a girl. Nonetheless, the outcome was as expected, creep this, creep that.
Furthermore, when I was reading the comments, I noticed something interesting. While the majority of the comments were in favor of what they were doing, they were still being criticized. You may wonder why since I have told you the viewers liked what they saw. There are (apparently/allegedly) many young women watching and commenting on these videos. While they were in favor of what they did, they criticized them how they did it, and not because of any sympathy for the exposed men.
Their problem was that these Youtuber men were acting (writing in the chat) way too naive, and gullible. Even the women were calling them out in a sense, that they were not that naive when they were 14/15-years-old, and how they are not realistically portraying a young woman of that age. The hunters acted like they don’t know what porn, sex, masturbation etc. is, or that they never kissed, or given a blow job etc. Basically, how they write (not the picture that they used) resembled more of a 10-year-old.
And that got me thinking. Are many men really that naive what young women at that age are thinking, desiring and doing? Do they really think, they still play with Barbie dolls? I heard over the years, that it is really men who are the hopeless romantics. When it comes to that situation, I would agree.
What is my conclusion here. As I said before, you better have culture and the law on your side. At the very least on of them. If you have neither, don’t engage at all, especially in Anglo-Saxon countries. Even in countries were the official age of consent might be lower, still be careful what you are doing, particularly online. You still might be exposed as a pedophile/nonce/predator. A couple of months ago, I showed a 15-year-old that exposed a man with his full picture out on reddit. It wasn’t mentioned where she was from. You might even get exposed, slandered and made fun of even when the woman is 21, but you happen to run into a decoy of a predator hunter.

Today I was in a supermarket when I found myself at the bread counter alongside a fairly attractive young woman who looked about 20-22. Although not very good looking, she had ginger hair and a slightly cute face so was ‘my type’. As she glanced at me I decided to smile, and thought if she smiled back I would try to open a conversation with her – it being New Year’s Eve and wanting to end the year on a positive note and all.
She gave me a total look of disgust. A few minutes later I joined the queue at the self-service tills. She was already checking out. She pulled out her phone and I’m sure she pointed it in my direction for a few seconds. I’m probably on her TikTok now – “Oh my God, look at this old creep who smiled at me in the supermarket today.”

To be fair, if you abuct a 15 year old girl you’re teaching and run off to another country with her, you can expect jail time. He obviously did disrupt her life (and ruin his own). Another interesting feature of that case is that the courts were unable to prosecute him for actual sex with the girl, because it took place in France.
